Pine Village doesn’t only teach the idea of global awareness, we believe in it whole-heartedly.
Most recently we’ve participated in two activities that connect our families with families across the world:
Waiting for a Miracle Project
PVP Newton Director Kelly Cisneros grew up in Colombia and is very aware of how difficult it can be to just get through what most of us take for granted on a daily basis. For the children of Tierra Adentro – a small village located in the mountains three hours outside Ibague – even just going to school is nearly impossible because of the lack of clothes and supplies. This year, she decided to do something about it. She calls it the “Waiting for a Miracle” project.
As part of the holiday drives, Kelly requested donations of backpacks and school supplies from families from all of Pine Village’s locations. On the morning of December 13, she was overwhelmed by the donations. Pine Village staff and families came together to pack boxes that will be shipped to Kelly’s mom in Colombia, who will then transport the materials to the town in order for the children to start their school year in February.
New England Association for Colombian Children
On Saturday, December 14, PVP Needham Director Karen Quintana co-hosted a fundraiser with NEACOL (New England Association for Colombian Children), whose mission is to generate resources to support social programs and unite efforts that will contribute to improving life conditions of Colombian children in need. There were crafts and activities for children, and money that was collected will go to NEACOL.
